2021 vs 2020 Toyota Highlander

2021 vs 2020 Toyota Highlander

If you’re thinking about getting a Toyota Highlander, then you may wonder if you should go with the 2020 or 2021. If you go for 2021 versus the 2020 Toyota Highlander, you’ll find a new trim level — the XSE. This trim is sportier and fun to drive, but still has plenty of functionality, power, and performance. Let’s take a look at some of the other new changes on the 2021 Toyota Highlander.

Engine and Performance

Power up the engine on the 2021 XSE; it comes equipped with a 3.5-litre V-6 engine that delivers an astounding 295 horsepower and a decent 263 pound-feet of torque. It’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

2021 Toyota Highlander - Capability

Drive the XSE will show you how well it manages the road and curves. That’s because the suspension system has been upgraded and fine-tuned for better navigation. The springs are stiffer, there’s a rear stabilizer bar, and the power steering has been tweaked, to add to the performance features. Buyers can choose either front-wheel drive or Dynamic Torque Vectoring all-wheel drive. Selecting the all-wheel drive gives the real wheels more power.

Design

The exterior offers a few changes to boost the already attractive style. There is the addition of black trim around the window, roof rails, and side-mirror caps, making it stand out. Also, black accents and light strips highlight the headlights.

The front grille design is different too, with the front fascia bolder than before. The exhaust adds an upgrade to a chrome dual tip, creating a bit of flair.
The 2021 Toyota Highlander adds interior updates too, with the addition of black SofTex-trimmed seating. If you want to upgrade more, you can go for the red and black leather trim with red stitching on the instrument panel, which is now carbon fibre. Ambient lighting glows on the instrument panel, creating a feeling of luxury.

Technology

The technology extends to all aspects of the Highlander. From the premium JBL audio system fitted with a 1200-watt 11 speaker system to the integrated navigation system, you’ll be in touch with convenience and the modern world. You can stay connected to your apps, music, and more through the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto system.

Overall, the 2021 XSE is a fresh update to the Toyota Highlander. The aggressive styling and added interior touches make it a sporty yet elegant ride for 2021.
